Melissa Allen was inspired to be an archaeologist when she was 8 years old after watching movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Mummy, and Tomb Raider. She grew up to become an archaeologist in San Diego and started her business 'Archofacts' so she could teach children about a fun and adventurous career. Throughout his parkour career he has coached kids-adults, worked stunt jobs (movies-tv), and competed in many competitions, even winning a few. Dana Vollmar represents the fourth generation in a remarkable family legacy spanning five generations of deaf individuals. She grew up in Riverside, alongside her three deaf brothers and her deaf parents, who are now retired teachers from the California Schools for the Deaf. Dana herself is a proud graduate of the California School for the Deaf, Riverside (CSDR). She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Gallaudet University, the world’s only university dedicated to the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Dana is a proud aunt to five nephews and one niece, two of whom are also deaf. Her passion for American Sign Language (ASL) shines through her teaching and decades of dedicated volunteer work. Ms. Maribel is a wife and mom of two young children and has been homeschooling for the past four years. She has also spent three years as a substitute teacher at HEC Riverside and enjoys teaching in her church’s children’s ministry, where she creates fun, hands-on lessons for kids.
Before teaching, she worked as an administrative assistant, building strong organizational and people skills that she now brings into the classroom. Elizabeth Blackmore is an experienced educator who loves helping children develop a lifelong love of learning. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, with an emphasis on children with exceptional needs, from Idaho State University, and has additional training in literacy and teaching English as a second language.

As a homeschool educator for 17 years and a mother of six, Elizabeth has taught a wide range of subjects in many settings, including homeschool co-ops, preschool, K–3 classrooms, and science programs at the Idaho State University Natural History Museum. Now in her seventh year at HEC, she enjoys creating hands-on, play-based learning experiences where children can explore, grow, and build confidence. Elizabeth believes learning should be engaging and meaningful, and that every child is capable of amazing things. She looks forward to partnering with families to support each child’s unique learning journey.

Ed Krzyzaniak studied at top music schools and works with some of the biggest names in music. He is a session guitarist for producers like Matt Forger (who was Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney's recording engineer). He's a lead guitarist for legendary Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. He has performed on 2 Grammy nominated recordings and performed with Grammy winners and nominees. Ed has written songs and recorded with artists like Michael Sembello (who wrote #1 hit "Maniac"), Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters), Larry Dunn (Earth Wind & Fire), Alex Del Zoppo (Beach Boys, Sweetwater), an Australian Idol winner and many others. Kids Gardening Center is thrilled to have Josefina Abreo as one of our lead educators.

Josefina is an experienced homeschooling educator who has spent the past five years guiding and teaching her two children. What began as a personal commitment to her own family quickly became a professional calling, shaping her approach to supporting children’s growth—both academically and emotionally. 

Josefina joined Mrs. Z (Nzingha Newton) and her company Kids Gardening Center after signing up her kids to the program in 2023. KGC & Mrs. Z’s  mission for families is  to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable, self-sufficient, and connected to the land while developing essential life skills- this aligned perfectly with Josefina’s commitments to family and education. 
Kids Gardening Center was founded 10 years ago and has strived to bring communities together through teaching about  healthy choices, hands on gardening techniques and nutritious recipes by our own design.  We’ve expanded our lessons over the years to reach beyond the soil and into the minds of the next generation by building stackable lessons that create paths to understanding and retention. 
Our lead educator Josefina  believes every child has unique talents and thrives when learning is tailored to their individual strengths. With her background in computer science and graphic design, Josefina brings creativity, organization, and problem-solving to her teaching. Ms. Maggie is a dedicated law enforcement wife, and homeschoooling mom of three daughers who are 15, 13, and 11. She enjoys family time and adventures in nature. Ms. Maggie is passionate about shopping second-hand and repurposing items, and using sustainable and reusable items throuhgout her home to cut down on waste. Ms. Maggie has been crocheting for 14 years and has taught the beautiful life skill to all of her children and many of her friends. She and her children enjoy making crocheted items for thier home and to give as gifts. Meghan Bourbonnais is an educator with over a decade of experience teaching children from preschool through elementary grades in homeschool and enrichment settings.
