Mikala Aragon has been part of Home School Enrichment Centers for a year and has fallen in love with how excited and passionate each teacher, parent and stundent is about learning. Makenzie Burrows has lived in San Diego her whole life, and has been in Lakeside with her husband and son for the last 3 years. She graduated with a bachelors degree from SDSU in 2021 in Business. Dawn Caldwell, is a born and raised San Diego native. She has a BS in human biology and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2005 and has been serving families in San Diego ever since. Growing up she was an avid athlete ranging from gymnastics to being a collegiate softball player and many other sports in between. Karin Leonard is a homeschooling mom and a classically trained pianist. For over 30 years, she has taught beginner to advanced level music to people from ages 5 to 95. At age 14, she sang at Carnegie Hall. At age 16, she was hired as a church pianist, began assembling praise bands, conducting choirs and directing musicals. Music Speaks Studio wants to help make lifelong music lovers who believe that music is meant to be shared. Teacher Bio: Shad Oakes is a father of 7. His wife Hanna homeschools their four youngest children (besides their newest baby born this year). He is a jack of all trades as he has had his hand in several different lines of work. Shad received his BA degree in Ministry and worked in youth ministry for 17 years, 9 of which he was a full time Youth Pastor, planning curriculum and teaching elementary kids. He played volleyball for 6 years and coached for another 6. Shad also started his own handyman business that focuses on being detailed and doing quality work for his customers working in plumbing and has remodeled several homes and he recently worked as a foreman for a local family owned construction company. In his personal life he loves spending time with his family, doing projects on their four acres, going on adventures in nature, still serving at church, teaching 4th and 5th grade students.

Bryan is a dynamic visionary leader who has produced and directed 12 documentaries (Bethany Hamilton’s Heart Of A Soul Surfer, Walking On Water, and Beyond Sight are just a few). He also developed and led the self distribution strategies for each movie and managed the world tour, all that resulted in over 500,000 people in live attendance and over 40 million views of the films. In 1995 he founded the Walking On Water non-profit that made a big impact in the surf industry for 23 years through surf camps, movies, and mission trips. Bryan served on the Sony Pictures Affirm Films marketing team for the feature film Soul Surfer, served on the Luis Palau NGA cabinet, and in 2014 won the alumni award from his alma mater Point Loma Nazarene University. More recently Bryan has developed a Hollywood movie titled Kids On The Wall that will be filmed in the near future. A native speaker, Ms Adriana received all her elementary education in her home country of Costa Rica. Conversation, fluency, spelling and grammar were solidified during those early years of her life. Upon moving to California, learning English as a second language became a priority, but at home and with friends Spanish continued to remain the norm.
